Summer Dogs

Hot dogs were not my favorite, until I found this recipe. If you're looking for a way to turn a boring old hot dog or brat into something pretty spectacular, check out this winning combo.
I like to use Stadium brats, on a really good bakery hot dog bun. Slather the bun with Cherry Republic Cherry Artisan mustard (it's a mild, grainy mustard that doesn't taste anything like cherries but is a must-have in your pantry!). Layer roasted sweet peppers and onions on, place the hot dog in, then slide some dill pickles in for a fresh and flavorful combination.
Roasted Sweet Pepper & Onions:
Ingredients
- 1 red pepper, sliced
- 1 yellow pepper, sliced
- 1 yellow onion, sliced
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- Salt, Pepper
Directions:
- Preheat oven to 450 degrees.
- On a lined cookie sheet, combine peppers, onion, and olive oil.
- Toss to coat.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Roast in oven for 15 minutes. Stir, then roast another 10-15 minutes until soft and browned.
Serve on hot dogs, tacos, with eggs, and more.
